WAYNE, Neb. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team concluded the Wildcat Classic in a tie for third place Tuesday afternoon.
The two-round Wildcat Classic was held at the par-72 Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Neb. Nebraska-Kearney finished first out of 15 teams with a score of 308-294—602 (+26). The Mavericks finished in a tie for third place with Wayne State as they shot a 297-312—609 (+33), while the Wildcats shot a 304-305—609 (+33). Nebraska-Kearney's Claire Berquist (75-72—147) and Concordia-St. Paul's Addi Wood (77-72—147) tied for first place at +3 on the individual standings.
"Unfortunately it was not our day today," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. " We gotta lock in at practice the next two weeks and find the team from yesterday."
Junior
Victoria Woytassek shot a 73 in the final round to finish in fourth place at +5 for the event. She recorded one birdie and 15 pars in her final round. Sophomore
Emerson Garlie followed two strokes behind in fifth place at +7 as she shot an 80 in her final round.
Senior
Samantha Youngquist recorded an 80 to finish in a tied for 12th at +8, while junior
Lauren Brown shot an 82 to finish at +16. Junior
Lauryn Keller posted a 79 in round two to finish the event at +20 as well.
Senior
Ava Olson shot a 77 and finished in a tied for 12th place at +8 while competing independently. Freshman
Karalyn Skinner and junior
Emma Berge also competed independently as they finished at +14 and +20, respectively.
