CSC Academic All District: Bremer, Herzig, Schweim, and Holmgren

Mavericks Place Four on CSC Academic All-District Team

Greenwood, Ind.Minnesota State women's basketball team had four student-athletes selected to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Honorees include seniors Natalie Bremer, Hannah Herzig, and Mackenzie Schweim, as well as sophomore Rhyan Holmgren

The 2025-26 Academic All-District Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. 
 
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 15, 2026. 

Bremer, a three-time CSC Academic All-District selection, continued to excel both academically and on the court during her senior season, starting all 32 games for the Mavericks and averaging 21.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. The Lake City, Minn., native also etched her name in program history as the all-time leading scorer across both the Minnesota State men's and women's basketball programs with 2,371 career points. In addition to her academic success, she earned NSIC South Division Player of the Year honors and was named to the D2CCA All-American First Team, D2CCA All-Central Region First Team, and All-NSIC First Team, while also being recognized as the NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year. An exercise science major, Bremer maintained a 3.64 GPA.

Herzig delivered a standout senior season, earning her first CSC Academic All-District honor. The Lino Lakes, Minn., native, who holds a 3.51 GPA as a marketing major, was a key presence on the Maverick defense, totaling a team-high 97 steals to go along with 105 assists while averaging 6.8 points per game. Her defensive impact was recognized with NSIC Defensive Player of the Year honors, becoming just the second individual in program history to earn the award and marking the fourth time a Maverick has received the distinction.


Schweim, who holds a 3.75 GPA in Communication Sciences and Disorders, concluded her collegiate career by earning her first CSC Academic All-District selection. The Mankato, Minn., native started all 32 games for the Mavericks this season, helping lead the program to a 27-game winning streak. During her senior campaign, Schweim averaged 11.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, finishing her career with 836 points. Her productive season also earned her a spot on the All-NSIC Second Team, marking the first all-conference honor of her career.

Sophomore standout Holmgren earned her first CSC Academic All-District selection following a strong season off the bench for the Mavericks. She appeared in all 32 games for MSU, averaging 9.3 points per game while shooting .484 from the field. Holmgren ranked among the top three offensive producers for Minnesota State and highlighted her season with a 17-point performance against Winona State. In the classroom, Holmgren carries a 3.94 GPA as a Communication Sciences and Disorders major.
