MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State wrestling team picked up its fourth win in Taylor Center this season Saturday evening as the Mavericks bested Northern State 21-16.

With the win, MSU improves to 14-3, including a 7-1 NSIC record. With the loss, NSU drops to 6-4, including a 3-4 conference record.

In total, the Mavericks won six of the dual's 10 matches, including one via fall and five via decision.

Senior Kole Marko (165 lbs.) scored the only pin of the dual as he defeated Izaak Hunsley at the 1:31 mark of their match.

Sophomore Ryan Fitzpatrick (125 lbs.) bested Sloan Johannsen 11-9 as he rallied from a 7-2 deficit at the start of the third period. Fitzpatrick notched three takedowns in the final period, including the winning takedown with 11 seconds to go.
Junior Chase Beckett (133 lbs.) notched a 4-3 win over Clay Gates. Beckett notched the only takedown of the match and scored the lone point in the third period to secure the win.

Sophomore Colton Hush (141 lbs.) came away with a 13-11 win over Krayle Stormer. Hush led 7-0 early, but Stormer was able to work his way back into the match to tie it at 11-11 after a takedown in the third period. An escape in the final five seconds and riding time would give Hush the final two points of the match.

Senior Caleb Meunier (157 lbs.) defeated Griffin Lundeen 4-0 as he notched the only takedown of the match. Senior Drake Hayward (174 lbs.) added a 6-0 victory over Mason Frey, with Hayward notching the lone takedown in the match as well.

Minnesota State continues its season on Friday as it travels to #13 St. Cloud State. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
