LAS VEGAS, Nevada --- Minnesota State freshman wrestler
Logan Schwanz finished fourth at the 2026 US Open competing in the 63 kilogram division of the U20-Championships.
Schwanz opened with a bye, then picked up an 8-0 technical superiority over Travis Long in the second round before defeating William Christopher, 5-4, in the quarterfinals. Schwanz suffered an 8-0 technical superiority setback in the semifinals but bounced back to defeat Logan Bogard by fall in the consolation semifinals in 1:22.
In the third-place match, William Christopher defeated Schwanz, 7-3.
"Earning All-American honors at the U.S. Open is no small feat, and Logan proved he belongs among the nation's best with his performance this week," said Minnesota State assistant coach
Trayton Anderson. "His grit, preparation, and competitive maturity were on full display—this result speaks to the work he's put in and the level he's competing at. We're proud of his performance and excited for what's ahead."
Schwanz, a freshman from Hutchinson, Minn., compiled a 10-6 record at 141 pounds for the Mavericks.
