MARSHALL, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished round one of the SMSU Fall Invite in first place Saturday afternoon.
The SMSU Fall Invite is being held at the par-72 Marshall Country Club in Marshall, Minn. The Maverick "A" team finished round one in first place with a 305 (+17), with Minnesota Crookston and the Maverick "B" team following in second place with a 310 (+22).
"Happy with how the women played today," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. "Still have to find that fourth score. Having the B Team play well today shows the depth of our roster and the potential we have."
Sophomore
Emerson Garlie was the only player to finish round one under par as she shot a 71- (-1). She recorded two birdies and 15 pars, including nine pars on the back nine.
Junior
Victoria Woytassek finished the day in fourth place as she shot a 76 (+4), while seniors
Samantha Youngquist and
Ava Olson shot 79 (+7). Woytassek notched two birdies, while Olson recorded three. Sophomore
Mila Jenniges finished round one with an 83 (+11) also.
For the Maverick "B" team sophomore
Aly Blomberg shot a 76 to finish the round +4, with junior
Lauryn Keller following right behind with a 77 (+5). Senior
Lauren Rebrovich added a 78 (+6), while junior
Lauren Brown notched a 79 (+7). Freshman
Karalyn Skinner tallied an 82 (+10) also.
Juniors
Emma Berge and
Whitney Mullenbach competed independently. Berge finished the day in third with a 75 (+3), while Mullenbach notched an 81 (+9).
