LAKE CITY, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team wrapped up the Jewell Invitational in second place Tuesday afternoon.
As a team, MSU shot 295-299—594 (+26), just two shots behind Arkansas Fort-Smith which finished first with a 298-294—592 (+24).
"The women made a push at the end, but unfortunately we made too many mistakes early on," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. "We know what we need to work on."
Sophomore
Emerson Garlie finished first in the individual standings as she shot a 71-70-141 (-1). Garlie's three birdies on the front nine kept her even, before a pair of birdies on the back nine allowed her to finish under par on the day.
Junior
Victoria Woytassek finished the invitational in fourth place as she shot a 70-77—147 (+5). She notched one birdie on the front nine during her second round.
Sophomore
Mila Jenniges finished in 14th with a 78-75—153 (+11), while junior
Lauryn Keller added an 80-77—157 (+15) to finish in 23rd. Senior
Samantha Youngquist notched a 76-84—160 (+18), with senior
Ava Olson following one stroke behind with a 78-83—164 (+19).
The Mavericks return to action on Sept. 27-28 as they compete in the SMSU Fall Invite in Marshall, Minn.
