BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Minnesota State sophomore defender
Maclayne Menzel has been named the NSIC Defensive Player of the Week following her standout performance in the Mavericks' 1-0 victory over No. 4 Grand Valley State.
Menzel played the full 90 minutes, anchoring a back line that held the Lakers to just three shots on goal. Her leadership and composure helped secure Minnesota State's third shutout of the season and one of the program's early-season wins.
The Mavericks return to action this weekend with a pair of road matchups in North Dakota. MSU will take on UMary on Friday at 3 p.m. before facing Minot State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
