MANKATO, Minn. – The Minnesota State baseball team heads to Winona, Minn., for a two-game Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) series against the Winona State Warriors on Tuesday at Loughrey Field. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m., with game two following at 3:30 p.m.
Last Time Out
Minnesota State is coming off a dominant four-game sweep on the road at Minot State.
Game One Recap:
The Mavericks opened the series with an 11-3 win, powered by a trio of early home runs.
Louis Magers started the scoring with a two-run homer in the first, followed by
Nick Baker and
Aidan Byrne adding two-run shots in the second and third innings.
Zach Stroh and
Matthew Fleischhacker came through with key RBI hits in the sixth, while
Ike Mezzenga added a solo homer in the seventh, his first of two on the day. Stroh led the team with three hits, while
Nathan Culley improved to 7-0 on the mound after a six-inning.
Game Two Recap:
MSU completed the Saturday sweep with a 7-0 shutout. Mezzenga launched a solo homer in the first and doubled to set up Magers' second long ball of the day in the fourth.
Stroh tallied two more hits, finishing the day 5-for-8. On the mound,
Sam George tossed 5.0 shutout innings to move to 3-0, as the Mavericks' pitching staff stranded seven runners.
Game Three Recap:
The Maverick offense exploded for a 19-7 win in Sunday's opener. Mezzenga homered twice and drove in five runs, while
Jake Berkland and Stroh combined for six RBIs. After Minot State cut the deficit to 10-7 in the fifth, MSU answered with a nine-run ninth inning to seal the win.
Game Four Recap:
Minnesota State completed the sweep with a 10-6 victory. Berkland and
Brandon Vlcko got the Mavericks on the board early, and Vlcko added a three-run homer in the seventh. Stroh hit a three-run shot in the ninth to close it out. On the mound,
Mack Crowley picked up his fourth win of the season.
Ike Mezzenga is second on the Mavericks with a .396 batting average, with an NSIC-high 12 home runs and has 46 runs batted in for the season, which also leads the conference.

Nathan Culley leads with a 2.25 ERA and has a 7-0 record for the season.
Minnesota State ranks 12
th in NCAA Division II in team batting average (.339) and is tied for seventh in home runs per game (1.67).
Scouting the Warriors
Winona State enters Tuesday's series at 15-14 overall and 11-9 in conference play. The Warriors split a four-game set with Minnesota Crookston last weekend, going 2-2.
Cole Fuecker leads the team offensively with a .353 batting average, three home runs, and 20 RBIs. On the mound, George Henkel has been a standout, sporting a 1.17 ERA and a 3-0 record.
Head coach Seth Wing is in his third season leading the Warriors and has guided the team to an 11-11 home record in 2024.
