MANKATO, Minn. – No. 16 ranked Minnesota State men's track and field continued the outdoor season on Wednesday, competing well in a multitude of events at the Maverick Open #1 at Mark Schuck Outdoor Track & Field Complex. The Mavericks finished first in a seven team field with 230 points, well ahead of second place Sioux Falls (125).

Mike Turgeon. "We're looking forward to making a few small adjustments on Thursday at practice and returning to action on Friday at the Maverick Open #2."
Keaton Wattier and
Jonah McCormick started out first and second in the 110 meter hurdles. Wattier's time was 14.50 and McCormick finished in 15.00.
Jalen McGee and
Oluwadamilola Babalola set personal bests in 100 meter prelims and finals for the Mavericks. In the finals, Babalola led the field with a time of 10.86. McGee was right behind in 10.86.
Kyler Bade set a personal best in 400 meters with his second place mark of 48.25. Then the Mavericks swept the podium in 800 meters.
Grant Mayers covered the distance in 1:56.41 for first place, followed by
Maquanet Collins (1:57.00) and
Leif Larsen (1:57.28).
Ray Ure continued his strong season in 1500 meters with a personal best first place time of 3:57.46.
In the field,
Ben Wieser took second place in shot put behind Tyler Hiatt, who set a meet record for Sioux Falls in the event. Wieser landed at 16.66m (54-8.25).
Dylan Gross posted a personal best first place discus throw of 54.23m (177-11), which was 15
th in Division II this season.
Jacob Ziebarth also took second place in high jump with a mark of 1.96m (6-5.00).
Aiden Buendorf was third in the same event (1.91m, 6-3.25).
Collin Windorski had a strong outing in pole vault. His first place mark of 5.03m (16-6.00) was a personal best and 18
th in Division II.
Blake Wakeling finished second (4.58m, 15-00.25) and Jed Hansen was third (4.43m, 14-6.25) with a season best.
The long jump title went to Logan Moeller, who landed at 7.34m (24-100). It was a personal best and 22
nd this spring in Division II. McGee took second place with a mark of 7.24m (23-9.00).
Sheldon McNicholas placed first in triple jump with his distance of 15.10m (49-6.50)(16
th in Division II).
Liam Byrne finished off the afternoon in second place in hammer throw with a mark of 57.57m (188-10).
Minnesota State is back in action on Friday when it hosts the Maverick Open #2 on MSU campus in the final tune up before the NSIC Outdoor Championships May 8-10 at James S. Malosky Stadium in Duluth, Minnesota.
