DULUTH, Minn. --- Minnesota State's men's and women's track and field teams have earned NSIC Outdoor Championships for their efforts this weekend.
The men recorded 235 points to finish first. Northern State took second place with 101.5 points, while UMary finished in third place with 101 points.
Rinaldo Moore and
Hayden Bills tied with Augustana's Bryant Keller for the high point performer in the men's championships as all three recorded 20 points.
The women posted 167 points and were followed by UMary in second place with 161 points. Winona State recorded 107 points for third place as well.
Miranda Lauvstad was the high point performer for women's championships as she recorded 26 points.
Aubri Brown was the third-highest point performer with 24 points.
This is the 14th straight NSIC Outdoor Championship for the men and fifth consecutive for the women.
Selections for the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be announced on Tuesday via press release on NCAA.com. The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held in Emporia Kan., on May 21-23.
Men
Hayden Bills won the discus event with a throw of 54.21m (177-10), with
Dylan Gross following in second place with a throw of 53.45m (175-4).
Sheldon McNicholas took first place in the triple jump with a jump of 14.81m (48-7.25), that ranks 36th in Division II this season.
The 110m hurdles event saw the Mavericks claim five of the top-six finishes. The top-four finishes went to
Rinaldo Moore (13.58),
Kerdel Moses (13.92),
Keaton Wittier (13.93) and
Jalen McGee (13.95). Moore's time is the second-fastest in Division II, while the times of Moses, Wattier and McGee rank 14th-16th.
Kenjuan Hampton took first place in the 200m event with a time of 21.00.
Robert McGhee added a fourth place finish with a time of 21.48, with
Qai Hussey following in fifth with a time of 21.55.
The 400m event saw
Quinton Ellis take first place with a time of 46.83. He was followed by Hussey who finished fifth with a time of 48.36.
The Mavericks dominated the 400m hurdles with four of the top-five finishes. Moore won the event with a time of 52.78, while
Diego Sekiyama-Nava took third with a time of 54.03.
Marenono Opiew (54.89) and
Logan Weninger (54.91) took fourth and fifth place, respectively.
The 4x400 relay event saw the team of Weninger,
Oluwadamilola Babalola, Opiew and
Tyrel Robinson finish in third place with a time of 3:17.07.
In the 5,000m event,
Jack Kendall took second place with a time of 14:47.44.
Luis Pfister posted a time of 15:05.30 to finish in seventh place as well.
The 1,500m event saw
Jaden Miller take eighth place with a time of 4:00.33, with
Luke Scholtes (4:02.21) and
Erek Ross (4:02.42) following in eighth and ninth place, respectively.
Women
Elvira Colvin won the pole vault event with a vault of 3.86m (12-8), which is the 31st best vault in Division II this season.
Willow Oehmichen took fourth place with a vault of 3.76m (12-4).
The 4x100m relay team of
Chantle Reiland,
Miranda Lauvstad,
Jordin McGee and
Norah D'almeida took first place with a time of 45.99, which ranks 29th in Division II.
Esaba Okwaramoi won the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.50, with Lauvstad following in third place with a time of 14.00. Their times ranked seventh and 36th in Division II. Lauvstad also took third place in the 400m event with a time of 55.00.
Grace Hambel (57.42) and
Kenyatta Grate (57.83) followed in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
Elise Jensen led the field in the discus event with a throw of 50.04m (164-2). Jensen was followed by
Aubri Brown in second place with a throw of 47.53m (155-11), which ranks 25th in Division II.
Ghada Hamdani won the triple jump event with a jump of 12.66m (41-6.5).
D'almeida posted a fifth place finish in the 10mm event with a time of 11.72, which ranks 34th in Division II. D'almeida also finished fourth in the 200m event with a time of 24.12, while
Grace Obour took seventh place with a time of 24.81.
The 4x400 relay team of Hambel, Obour, Grate and Lauvstad took third place with a time of 3:48.89.
The 1,500m event saw
Ashley Overgaauw take seventh place with a time of 4:42.27. In the 5,000m event,
Madison Matzek recorded a time of 17:53.94 to finish in eighth place.
