SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Minnesota State took first place in four events on day one of the Augustana Invite Thursday evening.
Minnesota State excelled on day one, demonstrating strong performances across several events. The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team, composed of sophomore
Averi Larsen, sophomore
Savannah Acker, sophomore
Norah Naatjes, and sophomore
Hannah Denzer, claimed first place with a swift time of 1:33.64, surpassing their seed time by nearly five seconds.
Larsen led the way in the 50-yard freestyle, securing a first-place finish with a time of 23.35. Additionally, Acker delivered a notable performance in the 200-yard individual medley, capturing first place with a time of 2:03.50 setting a new school record and recording an NCAA provisional qualifying time also.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Denzer placed third with a time of 5:08.86, followed closely by her teammate sophomore
Kaylie Gibbs, who finished fourth at 5:09.14.
The 400-yard medley relay teams also contributed significantly to Minnesota State's success. The A team, featuring Acker, Larsen, senior
Claudia Schwartz, and sophomore
Sydney Pippert, finished first with a time of 3:49.33. Meanwhile, the C team finished second, clocking in at 3:52.83.
