St. JOSEPH, Mo. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team concluded the Central Region Preview in sixth place Tuesday.
The two-round Central Region Preview was held at the par-72 St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo. Minnesota State shot a 322-315—637 (+61) to finish sixth in the team standings. Southwestern Oklahoma State took first place in the team standings as it shot a 308-308—616 (+40). Maria Velilla from SWOS led the individual standings as she shot a 76-72—148 (+4).
"Really happy with how the girls battled through the wind the last two days," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. "This is a great field and was a good test of golf. This will give us momentum and stuff to work on over the winter."
Junior
Victoria Woytassek shot a team best 76 during round two to finish the day in a tie for 14th at 157 (+13) along with her teammate senior
Samantha Youngquist. Woytassek notched 13 pars and a birdie on the final day, while Youngquist posted 12 pars, including eight on the back nine.
Sophomore
Emerson Garlie finished in 27th place as she shot a 77 in round two to finish at +17. Garlie recorded three birdies in round two and shot an even 36 on the front nine.
Junior
Emma Berge shot an 84 on the final to finish at +21, while junior
Lauryn Keller recorded an 87 on day two as she finished +24. Senior
Ava Olson competed independently and posted an 82 on the final day to finish +21 as well.

Minnesota State has concluded its fall schedule and will start back up in the spring. The NSIC Championships will be held at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo., from April 22-24.
