LARCHWOOD, Iowa --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished round one of the USF Invitational in third place Monday.
The two-round USF Invitational is being held at the par-72 Grand Falls Golf Course. As a team, MSU shot a 316 (+28) in round one. Winona State leads the team standings with a 307 (+19), with Wayne State following in second with a 311 (+23). WSU's Lindsey Lund and Concordia-St. Paul's Piper Hill lead the individual standings at 72 (E).
"Unfortunately it was not our day on the greens," head coach
Alex Schmitz said. We had way too many three putts. We have to remember to miss in the correct spots on the greens to score better."
Senior
Samantha Youngquist paced the Mavericks in round one as she finished the day in fourth with a 75 (+3), which included two birdies. Sophomore
Aly Blomberg finished four shots behind Youngquist at +7 with a 79 to finish the day in 13th. Junior
Emma Berge, who is competing independently, matched Blomberg's 79 as well.

Victoria Woytassek and sophomore
Emerson Garlie both shot 81 (+9) to finish the round in 20th, with both of the recording a pair of birdies. Junior
Lauryn Keller followed one stroke behind Woytassek and Garlie with an 82 (+10).
