St. Charles, MO – The Minnesota State women's hockey team used four goals from junior forward
Whitney Tuttle en route to an 8-1 victory over Lindenwood Friday evening in its first series of 2025.
Tuttle's offensive outburst marked the seventh time in program history that a player has tied the school record for goals in a game with four and the first since Kelsey King scored four goals at Long Island University on Dec. 16, 2022.
The Mavericks wasted no time opening the game as sophomore
Kamryn Van Batavia scored just five minutes into the contest with help from
freshmen Bella Shipley and
Audrey Garton. Eight minutes later, Tuttle notched her first goal of the day on a play assisted by juniors
Taylor Otremba and
Kianna Roeske.
Tuttle would strike again three minutes later, this time unassisted before Garton closed out the first period scoring at the 18-minute mark with a goal that was assisted by Shipley.
The offense continued to shine in the second period as Roeske scored her first goal of the season five minutes in, assisted by Garton and Van Batavia.  The offensive onslaught continued three minutes later when Shipley added to the tally with help from Garton and Roeske.
Tuttle completed her hat trick in the 11th minute of the second period, assisted by sophomore
Jenessa Gazdik and Otremba, capping scoring for the frame as the Mavericks took a 7-1 lead into the second intermission. Tuttle became the second Maverick in three games to record a hat trick, joining senior
Madison Mashuga who scored three goals in MSU's win over Bemidji State on Dec. 13.
Tuttle added her fourth goal – another unassisted tally – with 4:36 remaining in the game.
"I thought we moved the puck well and played with poise and pace. We got goals from all three players on our fourth line, which is always a recipe for success. It was great to see Whitney get some puck luck to start the second half of the season, as she scored a career-best four goals today," said head coach
Shari Dickerman.
In all, six Mavericks joined Tuttle with multi-point games in the victory as Garton picked up four points on a goal and three assists. Shipley and Roeske each had a goal and two assists, while Van Batavia had one and one, and Otremba had a pair of helpers.

Sophomore goaltender
Hailey Hansen turned away 18 of the 19 shots she faced as she notched her seventh victory of the season, her third in a row and her sixth in her last seven starts.
Minnesota State (9-1-1, 4-9-1 WCHA) goes for the sweep Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
