ST. PETER, Minn. – Select student-athletes from Minnesota State women's tennis completed the two-day Gustavus Invite on Sunday at Swanson Tennis Center.

In the No. 4 singles draw (eight-player bracket), freshman
Anya Kallenbach (Norwalk, Iowa) fell in the opening round to Rika Cross (Gustavus) 6-0, 6-0, then collected one game against Bella Monitor (Sioux Falls) but lost 6-0, 6-1. Kallenbach fell 6-1, 6-1 to Pavla Yakimova (Gustavus) for seventh place.

Junior
Ellie Peterson (Hutchinson, Minnesota) made an appearance in the No. 5 singles draw but lost in straight sets to Keira Healy (Grinnell) 6-3, 6-0. Peterson then won against Ellie Thie (Sioux Falls) 6-0, 6-1 before falling in the consolation championship to Katryna Hansen 6-4, 7-5.

Kallenbach and Peterson teamed at No. 3 doubles on Sunday and lost 8-1 to Katie Thompson and Rika Cross (Gustavus) in the opening round.
"I am really proud of the way our players competed this weekend," said Minnesota State Assistant Coach Kristie Williams. "They fought hard for each point and maintained a positive attitude while competing against some tough competition. We came away with some wins, gained match experience, and ideas about what we can work on to progress to the next level."
