MANKATO, Minn. --- Three Minnesota State tennis players including
Taina Cordeiro,
McKenna DeMarce and
Alma Vazquez Rioja have been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for their efforts on the court and in the classroom this season.
To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Team a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore athletically and academically. They also have to have at least 3.50 GPA and compete in at least 75% of the team's events. The CSC Academic All-American Teams will be announced on June 2.
A senior from Florianopolis, Brazil,
Taina Cordeiro has put together a 9-2 singles record this season and a 7-6 doubles record. Cordeiro was 5-1 in No. 5 singles matches this season and 6-6 in No. 3 doubles matches. Cordeiro owns a 3.65 GPA and is majoring in international relations.
A senior from Las Vegas, Nevada,
McKenna DeMarce went 8-6 in singles matches this past season, including an 8-4 record in No. 2 singles matches. DeMarce also went 9-6 in No. 1 doubles matches with her teammate
Julia Gurholt. DeMarce owns a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in communication sciences and disorders.
A junior from Quetetaro, Mexico,
Alma Vazquez Rioja went 10-2 in singles matches this past season, including a 5-1 record in No. 3 singles matches and a 5-2 record in No. 4 singles matches. She also posted a 9-5 doubles record, including a 6-4 record in No. 2 doubles matches with her teammate
Lucie Sliskova.
Minnesota State finished its season with an 11-4 record as it advanced to the finals of the NSIC Tournament.
