MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State head coach Drew Hawthorne has announced that Tais Guimaraes will join the Maverick women's tennis team in the spring.

All signings are contingent upon admission to Minnesota State and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center. 

"I am very pleased to welcome Tais to the Maverick Tennis program," Hawthorne said. "I can tell she will fit in excellently with our team culture when she arrives in Mankato in January.

"I am excited to see the contributions she will make to our program. She is a very talented athlete and I look forward to her pursuing her college tennis journey with us this spring."

Guimaraes was a two-time doubles runner-up and was selected twice to represent the state of Minas Gerais at the Brazilian Federation Cup. She was also a four-time champion at the UTR Tournament.

Tais is the daughter of Giullianno Fernandes Guimaraes and Gilcilaine de Morai Resende Guimaraes and she plans to major in mechanical engineering.
