Mavericks Wrap Up 2023-24 Season at NCAA Regionals

Bartlesville, Okla. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team wrapped up the 2023-24 season with a four-person team score of 319 en route to a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Central Region Tournament. The Mavericks shot 330-321-319 over the three-day event. 

The nine-team, three-day, three-round event was held at the Hillcrest Country Club, a par 72 course that is playing to 5,921 yards. Henderson State won the event with a 299-303-292--894. Individually, Lydia Sitorus of Rogers State leads the event with a 72-71-71—214. 

"Even though we didn't have our best week this week, we were a part of something really special," said head coach Alex Schmitz. "As a coach, I cannot thank Anna Cihak enough for her leadership and lasting impressions she made on our entire program. I am proud to be the coach of Minnesota State and I look forward to what next season will bring." 

Senior Kelly Winter shot a 76 on the day to finish with the lowest round of a Maverick at the regional tournament. Winter finished tied for 38th with a three-day total of 82-83-76—241 and she will exhaust her final year of eligibility next year. Fellow senior Anna Cihak shot an 80-77-83—240 and finished tied for 35th.  

Sophomore Samantha Youngquist finished with an 83-79-81—243 and was 42ns while freshman Claire Schweim shot an 85-82-81—248 and was 48th. Freshman Victoria Woytassek played in the final round of the event and shot an 81.  

Minnesota State finished the season winning or finishing second in nine out of the 12 events they played in.
