BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished round one of the NSIC Conference Preview in a tie for fourth place Monday.

The two-round NSIC Conference Preview is being held at the par-72 Adams Point Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo. Minnesota State recorded an overall team score of 312 (+24) to finish round one in tie for fourth place with Concordia-St. Paul. Missouri Western leads the overall team standings after round one with a score of 301 (+13). Augustana's Lanie Veenendall leads the individual standings with a score of 72 (E).

"We had some pretty consistent scores out of the top-five today," head coach Alex Schmitz said. "Unfortunately, there were too many double bougies on the cards. Once we eliminate those we will be just fine."

Sophomore Emerson Garlie and junior Victoria Woytassek led the way for the Mavericks in 13th place as they both shot a 77 (+5). Garlie recorded three birdies on the back nine, while Woytassek posted one. Junior Lauryn Keller followed one stroke back with a 78 (+6). Keller recorded two birdies also.

Senior Samantha Youngquist shot an 80 (+8) as well, with senior Ava Olson following one stroke behind with an 81 (+9).

Competing independently, junior Lauren Brown finished the round in a tie for third place with a 74 (+2). Brown shot an even 36 on the front nine that included two birdies. Junior Emma Berge shot an 83 (+11) as well, while freshman Karalyn Skinner posted an 88 (+16).

Minnesota State wraps up the NSIC Conference Preview on Tuesday.
