About Sioux Falls: The Cougars are currently 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC. Head coach Matt Meuleners is in his second year with the University of Sioux Falls. USF has one ranked wrestler, No. 7 Beau Klingsmith (133-lb.).
Last Time Out: Minnesota State hosted Upper Iowa this past weekend, resulting in a 29-9 loss to the Peacocks.
The Makovsky File: In his 32
nd year with Minnesota State, head coach
Jim Makovsky holds an impressive 308-141-3 career record, the most in program history. Makovsky has coaches 12 Individual National Champions, 96 NCAA All-Americans, and has been inducted into the
NCAA DII Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame.
National Appearances: Minnesota State last made an appearance on the podium in the 2022-23 season with senior Darrell Mason, at 285 lb., finishing third. Mason held a 17-4 record, became a two-time NCAA All-American, and earned the Minnesota State Senior Male Athlete of the Year Honor. Mason was also the national champion at 285 lb. his junior year with a perfect 22-0 record. Mason now is an assistant coach with the Mavericks.
