Mankato, Minn. – The Mavericks finished the regular season with a 21-14 loss to No. 9 Upper Iowa tonight at Taylor Center.  
 
Beginning the dual at 165 pounds, freshman Kole Marko had a tough 3-0 decision loss against Upper Iowa's #2 Chase Luensman. Next up, junior Mike Smith at 174 pounds and senior Brody Nielsen at 184 pounds found two close decision wins over Upper Iowa to bring the team score to 6-3 MSU.  
 
Sophomore Tommy Johnson faced Upper Iowa's #7 Dalton Hahn, resulting in a 5-1 decision loss at 197 pounds, followed by senior Max Villnow, of Minnesota State, also losing by decision to Upper Iowa at 285 pounds. 
 
Upper Iowa received a forfeit at 125 pounds.  
 
Sophomore Isaiah Mlsna, at 133 pounds, lost by a 5-3 decision to #11 Kaden Anderlik of Upper Iowa, before Minnesota State's #12 Brock Luthens lost to Upper Iowa's Donnie Schmidt at 141 pounds. 
 
To finish the dual, freshman Caleb Meunier and sophomore Drake Hayward, at 149 pounds and 157 pounds, respectively, claimed two huge major decision wins over Upper Iowa. Meunier won 18-4 followed by Hayward winning 12-2, with the team score coming to a close at 21-14 Upper Iowa. 
 
Minnesota State will start their post season schedule Feb. 25 in Aberdeen, S.D. at the NCAA Super Region V Championships.
