MANKATO, Minn. --- Eight members of the Minnesota State football team have been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for their efforts on the field and in the classroom.
Jacob Daulton,
Marshall Foerner,
Brock Galetich ,
Joey Goettl,
Colton Hoffman,
Caleb Paulus, and
Max Pelham and
Dakota Smith all received CSC Academic All-District honors.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore academically and athletically. They must also boast a 3.50 GPA and start in at least 66% of the games or play in 90% of the games.
A senior linebacker from Hudson, Wis.,
Jacob Daulton started in all 12 games for the Mavericks this past season. He was named to the All-NSIC First Team and led the Mavericks in tackles with 52. He has been named to the NSIC All-Academic Team three times. Daulton owns a 3.83 GPA and is majoring in exercise science.
A junior offensive lineman from Plano, Ill.,
Marshall Foerner started in 11 games for the Mavericks. As a member of the offensive line, Foerner helped the Mavericks rush for 2,548 yards and 28 touchdowns, while allowing just 11 sacks. He has been named to the NSIC All-Academic Team three times and garnered All-NSIC First Team honors in 2023. Foerner owns a 3.75 GPA and is majoring in finance.
A sophomore defensive back from Jewell, Iowa,
Brock Galetich played in 11 games for the Mavericks and was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team. He has notched 14 tackles during his career and owns a 3.68 GPA while majoring in management.
A junior defensive back from Marshfield, Wis.,
Joey Goettl started in all 12 games for the Mavericks this past season. He notched 47 tackles, including a season-high six against Bemidji State. He has been named to the NSIC All-Academic Team twice. Goettl owns and 3.60 GPA and is majoring in marketing.
A sophomore linebacker from Solon, Iowa,
Colton Hoffman played in 12 games for the Mavericks, including nine starts. He finished fourth on the team in tackles with 42, including a season-high seven tackles against Bemidji State. He was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team and owns a 3.68 GPA while majoring in exercise science.
A sophomore defensive lineman from West Des Moines, Iowa,
Caleb Paulus played in 12 games while starting in 11 this past season. He recorded 21 tackles and ranked fourth on the team in tackles for loss with 6.5. He was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team and owns a 3.75 GPA in exercise science.
A sophomore punter from Ankeny, Iowa,
Max Pelham played in 11 games for the Mavericks this past season. He averaged 38.2 yards per punt and recorded 12 punts that went more than 50 yards. Pelham was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team and owns a 3.62 GPA while majoring in civil engineering.
A senior linebacker from Inglewood, Calif.,
Dakota Smith started in all 12 games for the Mavericks this past season as he finished second on the team in tackles with 50 and third on the team in tackles for loss with 7.5. Against Minnesota Duluth, Smith notched a season-high 12 tackles. Smith was named to the NSIC All-Academic Team and the All-NSIC Second Team. He owns a 3.88 GPA and is working towards his MBA.
Minnesota State finished its 2023 season with a 9-3 record as it advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
