MANAKTO, Minn. --- Minnesota State's
Connor Fournier has been named the Vice Chair to the D2 SAAC Executive Team.
"I was really happy when I was voted in," Fournier said. "I think there were nine of us going for it and it was a little stressful going through each round of voting. Everyone who was running was qualified for the job and I am looking forward to getting to work.
"This role will help me improve as a leader and help me with my professional communication and collaboration with others."
In addition to being the stand by for the chair of the committee, Fournier will oversee legislative proposals that will affect student-athletes and it will be his job to relay that information to the rest of the SAAC committee so that it can be sent to the campuses within the NCAA. He will also have to collect and organize the votes from all of the Division II athletic conferences regarding the student-athletes stances around legislative proposals.
"Connor's appointment as Vice Chair of the NCAA Division II SAAC Executive Committee is a tremendous honor and a testament to his leadership, character and commitment to serving student-athletes," Director of Athletics
Kevin Buisman said. "We are incredibly proud of Connor and fully support him as he represents the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Maverick Athletics at the national level."
Fournier, who is a member of the Maverick football team, recently received All-NSIC First Team and D2CCA All-Central Region Second Team honors for his efforts during the 2025 season. He would later be named to the Don Hansen All-American Second Team, becoming just the sixth Maverick kicker in team history to do so.
