"They played their best period in the third," commented head coach
Luke Strand. "There were a lot of bend-don't-break moments for us and we earned some good quality chances. Then overtime is all about possession. You have to be mentally tough to stay in it when you don't have the puck. It's not easy when your back is against the wall but our guys showed a lot of fortitude when we needed it. Credit to our opponent as well."
Minnesota State is 1-1-2 in overtime this season while Lake Superior State is 3-1-2.
Â
The Mavericks (5-6-2, 3-3-1) take on Lake Superior State (7-7-1, 4-4-1) again Saturday at 6:07 p.m. EST.
