Trio of Mavericks Headed to Developmental Camps

MANKATO, Minn. --- A trio of Minnesota State men's hockey players are headed to NHL Developmental Camps beginning today.

Sophomore forward Reid Morich (Montreal), junior defenseman Will Skahan (Utah) and graduate forward Daimon Gardner (Vancouver) will represent Minnesota State. 

About Morich:
 Played in 38 games… Had seven goals and four assists for 11 points… Tallied his first career point in MSU's 2-1 win over RPI (10/25)… Tallied first career goal in MSU's 3-0 win over Michigan Tech… Had two goals in MSU's 6-1 win at Ferris State (1/30)… Was named CCHA Rookie of the Week following the FSU series… Had two goals in MSU's win over Michigan Tech (3/14) in the CCHA semifinals… Finished the season +2…Had one game winning goal and two power play goals… Blocked 20 shots… Was named a Krampade All-American Scholar.

About Skahan:
Was a second-round pick (#65) by the Utah Mammoth in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft… Spent two seasons (2024-26) at Boston College… Appeared in 61 games, scoring three goals and registering five assists for eight points… Skahan was a member of the 2024 US National U18 and 2023 US National U17 teams... Additionally, he played two years (2022-23, 2023-24) in the USHL with the USA National Development Program… In those two years he played in 68 games, scoring six goals and tallying 14 assists for 20 points.

About Gardner:
A fourth-round pick (112th overall) of the Vancouver Canucks in 2022, Gardner played in 29 games for St. Cloud State in 2025-26, scoring two goals and registering two assists for four points… In 2024-25, he appeared in 32 games for the Huskies scoring five goals and tallying nine assists for 14 points… Prior to his time at SCSU, he played a season at Clarkson where he had a goal and five assists in six games… Prior to his time in college, Gardner spent two years in the USHL, playing the 2021-22 season with Omaha and Tri-City and the 2022-23 season with Tri-City… During the 2022-23 season, he played in 46 games, scoring 12 goals and notching 30 assists for 42 points.
Minnesota State finished the 2025-26 season with a 22-11-7 record, winning the MacNaughton Cup as the CCHA regular season champions and the Mason Cup as the CCHA postseason champion.
