MANKATO, Minn. --- #24 Minnesota State bested both Concordia-St. Paul and Southwest Minnesota State in their double dual Saturday at Highland Pool.
MSU finished first in eight of the 16 events as it bested CSP by the score of 230-112 and SMSU by the score of 235-120. The Mustangs defeated the Golden Bears 187-158 in their match up.
"We were very happy with the team's effort today," head coach
Nathan Owens said. "This was our third consecutive weekend of competition and the women have be training hard through this three week stretch.
"Their definitely progressing and getting sharper week to week. Today we had a number of women have season PR's in relays or individual events. With the mid-season rest/taper meet less than four weeks away, we feel like everyone is on-track to peak at the right time."
The Mavericks kept up their strong showing in the relay events as they finished first in both the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay events. The quartet of junior

Ella DeFever posted a time of 1:47.78 in the 200 medley relay event, while the team of senior
Olivia Hudoba, Schultz, senior
Brooke Shell and sophomore
Maci Boffeli turned in a time of 1:39.34 in the 200 freestyle relay.
Along with the success in the relay events, Gronholz, Schultz and DeFever would each finish first in an individual event as well. Gronholz won the 100 backstroke event with a time of 58.43, while Schultz took first in the 200 breaststroke event with a time of 2:27.47. DeFever, along with her teammate in sophomore
Claudia Schwartz, tied for first in the 100 butterfly event with a time of 1:00.36 also.
The Mavericks also won two of the freestyle events as senior
Elise Mishmash posted a time of 25.07 in the 50 freestyle, while junior
Sienna Sirek Kreye posted a time of 11:09.01 in the 1,000 freestyle. Freshman
Madelyn Jagger added a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly event as well with a time of 2:20.72.
In the diving events, the Mavericks were led by sophomore
Jenna Elizarraras and junior
Sydney Hanson. Elizarraras took second in the 3-meter diving with a score of 244.05, while Hanson recorded 234.65 points in the 1-meter diving event to secure a second-place finish.
Minnesota State continues its season at home on Saturday, October 28, as it hosts St. Catherine. The dual is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., at Highland Pool.
