Mavericks Have Strong Performance at Maverick Open

MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team competed Friday evening as they hosted the Maverick Open at the MSU Outdoor Track & Field Complex.

In the 100m dash, Shaheed Hickman set a meet record with a time of 10.58 in route to the victory. Daniel Attoh finished second in the event with a mark of 10.76.

Abel Christiansen finished second in the 110m hurdles with a provisional mark of 14.28. He currently holds the 12th spot in division II. Nick Durnin finished third with a provisional mark of 14.31 and holds the 24th spot in the country.

In the 200m dash Josue Bokoyo finished third with a time of 22.25.

Kyler Bade finished second for the Mavericks in the 400m dash with a time of 49.84.

Christiansen and Durnin finished first and second in the 400m hurdles. Christiansen claimed victory with a mark of 53.55 and Durnin second with a time of 55.02.

Three Mavericks finished inside the top five of the 800m run with Adam Bohm being the top Minnesota State finisher in third with a time of 1:56.74.

In the 1500m run Gustavo Orendain finished third with a time of 4:33.33.

The Mavericks in the 5000m run Will Valentin earned the victory with a time of 15:19.00. Jacob Bennett finished third with a mark of 15:45.40.

In the discus throw, Carter Aguilera finished first in the event with a NCAA provisional mark of 179' 6'' (54.71m). Aguilera is currently in the fifth spot in division II with this performance.

The hammer throw saw Aguilera follow up his first place finish in the discus with a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a heave of 167' 11'' (51.19m).

Jacob Ziebarth finished second in the high jump with a height of 6' 5'' (1.96m). Trey Krannich finished third with a mark of 6' 1.25'' (1.86m).

Kevin Wu in the javelin throw finished second with a provisional heave of 196' 2'' (59.80m). Wu is currently 27th in the country.

In the long jump, Caleb Kath set a facility record with a leap of 24' 2.25'' (7.37m). With this performance Kath currently sits 21st in division II.

The Mavericks took the top three spots in the pole vault with Thomas Lindsey earning the win with a height of 15' 7.75'' (4.77m). Lindsey sits 24th in division II.

In the shot put, Steven Orzolek finished second with a throw of 55' 1'' (16.79m). Orzolek holds the 25th spot in the nation. Tommy Kucera finished third with a mark of 51' 1.5'' (15.58m).

Minnesota State returns to action Friday as they host the Deb Schulz Open to finish their regular season.
