Mavericks Compete at PSU Tune Up

PITTSBURG, Kan. --- The Minnesota State men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the PSU Tune Up Sunday in Pittsburg, Kan.

Next week the Mavericks will take part in the Gary Wilson Invitational on Wednesday in Minneapolis, Minn., and the Drake Relays in Des Moines Iowa from April 22-25.
 
Women

In the 100m hurdles, Esaba Okwaramoi took second place with a time of 13.54 and was followed by Jordin McGee who finished in fifth with a time of 13.91. In the 100m event, Norah D'Almeida took second place with a time of 11.87, with McGee following in fourth with a time of 12.14.

In the 400m hurdles, Kate Mohr led the Mavericks as she finished second with a time of 1:04.49. Okwaramoi took third place in the 200m event with a time of 24.14 also.

Dorcus Opoku took second place in the long jump with a throw of 6.05m (19-10.25), with McGee following in third place with a throw of 6.02m (19-9.0). Ghada Hamdani won the triple jump event with a jump of 12.74m (41-9.5).

Aubri Brown paced the Mavericks in the hammer throw as she took third place with a throw of 56.53m (185-6). Elise Jensen took third place in the discus with a throw of 48.57m (159-4) also.

Lilian Washington posted a fourth place finish in the high jump with a jump of 1.65m (5-5).

The 4x400 relay team of Grace Obour, Miranda Lauvstad, Grace Hambel and Brianna Shroyer took second place with a time of 3:48.44.
 
Men

The team of Tyreese James, Kenjuan Hampton, Rinaldo Moore and Robert McGhee won the 4x100m relay with a time of 40.28.

Moore would also win the 110m hurdles event with a time of 13.70, with Hampton following in third place with a time of 13.83. Marenono Opiew won the 400m hurdles event with a time of 52.59 also, with Diego Sekiyama-Nava following in third with a time of 54.47.

The 400m event saw Quinton Ellis finish in fourth place with a time of 46.51. In the 5,000m event Benjamin Gesslin finished in third place with a time of 16:01.13.

Jalen McGee led the way in the long jump event as he finished first with a jump of 7.68m (25-2.25).

The discus event saw Dylan Gross finish second with a throw of 56.22m (184-5), with Hayden Bills following right behind in third place with a throw of 55.52m (182-2). Bills took second place in the shot put event with a throw of 18.74m (61-5.75) as well.

The 4x400 relay team of Ellis, Qai Hussey, Hampton and Moore took finished in second place with a time of 3:08.85.
