BURNSVILLE, Minn. --- A trio of Minnesota State tennis players in junior
Tristen Bryant-Otake and freshmen
Elizabeth Felderman and
Avery Stilwell, along with head coach
Ryan Kucera, have received NSIC honors for their efforts this past season.
Bryant-Otake received All-NSIC First Team Singles honors, becoming the first Maverick to do so since Erin Streeter in 2019. Bryant Otake finished her season with a 20-5 record, including an 8-1 NSIC record in No. 1 singles matches. In the first round of the NSIC Tournament, she bested UMary's Chloe Chong by the scores of 6-2, 6-2.
Felderman claimed All-NSIC Second Team Singles accolades as she posted a 7-2 NSIC record in No. 3 singles matches. Felderman finished her freshman season with a 17-8 singles record, including a 10-7 record in No. 3 singles matches. She won five of her last six No. 3 singles matches of the regular season.
Stilwell received All-NSIC Second Team Singles honors as well. Stilwell finished with 6-5 NSIC, including a 6-3 record in No. 2 singles action. She won four of her final five singles matches of the regular season and was leading in the No. 2 singles match against UMary in the first round of the NSIC Tournament, before the Mavericks clinched the dual.
The duo of Bryant-Otake and Stilwell garnered All-NSIC First Team Doubles honors as well. As a team, Bryant-Otake and Stilwell posted an 18-3 record doubles action, including a 15-3 record in No. 1 doubles matches. In conference play, they went 8-1, before defeating the UMary team of Chloe Chong and Ilona Freitag in the first round of the NSIC Tournament. Bryant-Otake and Stilwell are the first Mavericks to receive All-NSIC First Team Doubles honors since Erin Streeter and Melissa Mashburn did so in 2016.
Kucera was named the NSIC Coach of the Year after guiding the Mavericks to 16-10 record, including an 8-3 NSIC record. The Mavericks finished tied for third in the NSIC standings, their highest finish since the 2009 season, and their eight conference victories are the most since the 2013 season when they won nine. He is the first Maverick coach to receive NSIC Coach of the Year honors.
