MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Men's outdoor track & field team claimed victory in the Minnesota State Open & Multi Saturday evening. The Mavericks finished first with a total team score of 204 points.
In the discus, Minnesota Sate saw Carter Aguilera finish second in the event with a throw of 167' 2'' (50.95m) which is a NCAA provisional mark and currently sits 13th in the country. Bedale Naba finished fourth with a toss of 152' (46.33m).
The hammer throw saw Nicholas Hudson finish second with a throw of 181' (55.18m).
Carson Dittel was victorious in the pole vault with a leap of 15' 8.25'' (4.78m). Dittel is currently ninth in the nation. Thomas Lindsey finished tied for second with a height of 15' 2.25'' (4.63m).
In the long jump, Caleb Kath was victorious with a leap of 23' 9'' (7.24m). Slade Heald finished second with a distance of 22' 10.75'' (6.98m).
Jacob Ziebarth and Trey Krannich finished third and fourth in the high jump with heights of 6' 5'' (1.96m) and 6' 3.25'' (1.91m), respectively.
Steven Orzolek finished second in the shot put with a distance of 54' 2.75'' (16.53m). he currently is 17th in the nation.
Kevin Wu won the Javelin throw with a meet record and new school record of 197' 5'' (60.18m) which is a NCAA provisional mark and is 18th in the country.
Stephen Ayobamidele finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 46' 3.25'' (14.10m)
Ray Ure finished second in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:26.64.
In the 1500m a pair of Mavericks finished second and third in the event. Tanner Maier finished second with a time of 3:54.84 and Ben Schmied third with a time of 3:55.18.
In the 400m dash Josh Phelps finished second in the event with a time of 49.03.
Eddie Blackwell finished fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.11.
In the 110m hurdles, Nick Durnin finished third with a time of 14.50.
The 400m hurdle saw two Mavericks finish in the top-five. Durnin claimed victory in the event with a time of 55.29. Jeremiah Revere finished third with a time of 56.20.
Three Mavericks placed in the top-five with Kenry Atubel finishing second, Carter Nesvold third, and Steven Marks fourth with times of 22.48, 22.69, and 22.71, respectively.
Nikolai Schmanski finished fifth in the 5000m run with a time of 15:36.44.
In the 4x400m relay the Minnesota State team that consisted of Tanner Maier, Ben Schmied, Ray Ure, and Caden Speikers finished third in the event with a time of 3:24.47.
The Mavericks return to action as the Mavericks will compete at the Lee Krough Invite in St. Peter, Minn., Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif., and Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., on Thursday April 14.
