MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's track & field team headed to Des Moines, Iowa and Indianola, Iowa to take part in the Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open.
At the Drake Relays, the 4x100m relay team that consisted of Caleb Kath, Prince Nti, Nicholas Sharma, and Shaheed Hickman finished third in the preliminary round with a time of 41.24 and qualified for the finals tomorrow afternoon.
In the 800m, Tanner Maier finished sixth with a time of 1:49.64. Maier currently sits fifth in the country in the event.
Kevin Wu finished tenth in the javelin throw with a mark of 186' 8'' (56.91m). Wu is 25th in the nation in the event.
In the shot put, Steven Orzolek finished 18th with a NCAA provisional mark of 54' 8.25'' (16.67m). He currently ranks 24th in the nation.
In the sprint medley, Minnesota State took home the top spot in the event with a time of 3:22.75. The team consisted of Hickman, Maier, Kenry Atubel, and Carter Nesvold.
Carson Dittel finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 16' 7.25'' (5.06m). Dittel holds the 14th spot in the country.
At the Kip Janvrin Invite, Ezekiel Clark finished ninth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.75. Clark also finished seventh in the 200m dash with a time of 22.08.
Justus Adams finished 13th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.20.
In the 800m run, Ben Schmied finished third with a time of 1:52.20.
Carter Aguilera finished fifth in the discus throw with a toss of 167' (50.91m). He ranks 27th in the country.
In the long jump, Caleb Kath took home the victory with a leap of 23' 9.5'' (7.25m). Kath ranks 29th in the country.
The Mavericks return to action tomorrow for the final day of the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa with the first event starting at 9:00 a.m.
