SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team opened the NSIC Tournament with a 4-2 victory over the UMary Marauders.
With the win, MSU improves to 16-9 on the season. With the loss, the Marauders finish their season with a 9-7 record.
The Marauders claimed the first point of the dual as they won two of the three doubles matches. The team of junior

Avery Stilwell bested Chloe Chong and Ilona Freitag 6-3 in the No. 1 doubles match, but UMary was able to win the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches by the scores of 6-3 and 6-4, respectively.
Minnesota State rallied in the singles matches as they won four to secure the 4-2 win. Bryant-Otake bested Chong 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match, before freshman
Taylor Julsrud defeated Heidi Jacobson 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 5 singles match. Freshman
Brynn Psooy added a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 win over Callie McDonald in the No. 6 singles match, before freshman
Hana Minisy locked down the dual for the Mavericks with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Emily Needham in the No. 4 singles match.
Minnesota State continues its season on Saturday as it takes on the Augustana Vikings in the second round of the NSIC Tournament. The dual is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
