Minnesota State Competes in Pacific Coast Invite and Bryan Clay Invite

Long Beach & Azusa, Calif. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team traveled to California to take part in the Pacific Coast Invite and Bryan Clay Invite at Long Beach State University and Azusa Pacific University respectively.

At the Pacific Coast Invite, Kevin Wu finished sixth in the javelin throw event with a throw of 192' 9'' (58.75m). Wu currently sits 19th in the country.

Carter Aguilera finished 22nd in the discus throw with a mark of 160' 9'' (49m) and sits 18th in the country in the event. Bedale Naba finished 52nd in the event with a mark of 139' 10'' (42.62m).

In the shot put, Steven Orzolek placed 15th in the event with a heave of 54' 1'' (16.48m) and currently ranks 19th in the NCAA. Naba finished 31st with a mark of 48' 4.5'' (14.74m). Tommy Kucera placed 32nd in the event with a distance of 48' 2'' (14.68m).

At the Bryan Clay Invite, Tanner Maier finished 11th in the 800m run. With his performance Maier broke the school record that was previously held by Ted Nelson set back in 1960 with a time of 1:48.35. Maier now ranks fourth in the country in the event.

The Mavericks return to action tomorrow as they continue competition in the Bryan Clay Invite, Mt. SAC Relays, and the Long Beach Invite.
