ST. PETER, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis fell to both Gustavus Adolphus and Southwest Minnesota State by the score of 5-2 in a pair of duals at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minn.
With the two losses, MSU drops to 11-9 on the season, including a 4-3 NSIC record.
The Mavericks began the day with a 5-2 loss to Gustavus Adolphus.
The Gusties recorded the first point of the dual as they won two of the three doubles matches. Junior
Tristen Bryant-Otake and freshman
Avery Stilwell defeated Simona Potockova and Yuki Oda Freshmen 6-1 in the No. 1 doubles match, but the Gusties were able to win the other two to secure the first point of the dual.
Elizabeth Felderman and
Brynn Psooy put up a good effort in the No. 2 doubles match, but they fell to Anna Stutz and Sydney Douglas 7-5. Freshmen
Taylor Julsrud and
Lacee Fedeler lost to Lili Elofson and Brooke Haddorff 6-4 in the No. 3 doubles match also.
The Mavericks managed to win two of the singles matches as the Gusties completed the 5-2 dual victory. Junior
Tristen Bryant-Otake bested Simona Potockova 7-5, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match, while Felderman defeated Yuki Oda 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles match.
Minnesota State finished the day with a 5-2 loss to the Mustangs.
In the doubles matches, Bryant-Otake and freshman
Avery Stilwell defeated Courtenay Leonard and Joana Reis Indio in the No. 1 doubles match 6-2, but the Mustangs were able to win the other two matches to secure the first point of the dual. Felderman and Psooy nearly won the No. 2 doubles match but they fell to Kristina Vuksanovic and Maja Louisa Harck 7-5.
Bryant-Otake on the No. 1 singles match against Reis Indio 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles match, while Stilwell posted a 7-6, 7-6 win over Leonard in the No. 2 singles match. The Mustangs were able to win the other four singles matches in straight sets to secure the 5-2 win.
Minnesota State continues its season on Saturday, April 2, as it travels to Bismarck, N.D., to take on the University of Mary. The dual is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
