Mankato, Minn. --- 17th-rated Minnesota State fell by a 34-7 margin to #2 St. Cloud State in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual held in Mankato Saturday night.

The Mavericks won two individual matches with senior Trevor Turriff victorious picking up a win over a ranked opponent at 174 lbs., and junior Darrell Mason staying undefeated with a win in his heavyweight match.

With a forfeit at 125 lbs., In the first match, Minnesota State junior Brock Luthens at 133 lbs., dropped an 8-3 decision to #3 Garrett Vos. With another forfeit at 141 lbs., Minnesota State dropped the next three matches. 

#8 Trevor Turriff is now 11-2 on the season after defeating #5 Dominic Murphy by a 7-4 margin. Mike Smith, at 184 lbs., dropped an 19-1 decision to Shaeden Scheidt, then Gavin Christoffersen fell to #2 Noah Ryan in the 197-lb., match, 8-2. Maverick junior heavyweight Darrell Mason upped his record to 12-0 on the season with an 17-5 major decision over Kaleb Haase in the final match of the dual.

Next action for Minnesota State (2-4, 2-4 NSIC) is Feb. 10 with a road league dual at Upper Iowa.
