Mavericks Dominant in Final Meet Before NSIC Indoor Championships

Mankato, Minn. --- The #16 Minnesota State men's track & field team hosted the Mark Miller Invitational Saturday evening in Myers Field House. The Mavericks won their fourth consecutive meet with a total score of 217.5.

In the 60m dash, senior Shaheed Hickman took home first place with a time of 6.85. Junior Josue Bokoyo took home the top spot in the 200m dash with a time of 22.35. The 400m dash saw sophomore Carter Nesvold claim victory with a time of 49.54.

Minnesota State freshman Leif Larsen finished third in the 1000m run with a time of 2:31.74. Freshman Ray Ure finished fifth in the 3000m event. In the 60m hurdles, the Mavericks took all three spots on the podium with senior Kornelius Klah setting a new NCAA Provisional mark with a time of 7.96. This mark for Klah has him tied for eighth in the nation.

The Mavericks 4 x 400 relay squad that consisted of Kornelius Klah, Max DePrenger, Kenry Atubel and Tanner Maier were victorious with a time of 3:18.69 in the event this evening.

Freshman Aiden Buendorf finished tied for second in the high jump with a height of 1.96m (6' 5''). In the pole vault, Carson Dittel took home the win with a NCAA provisional mark of 5.08m (16' 8''). With this effort Dittel sits fifth in the nation.

Mavericks Caleb Kath finished second in the long jump with a distance of 7.11m (23' 4''). In the triple jump, Stephen Ayobamidele finished fourth with a leap of 13.37m (43' 10.5'').

The shot-put saw Minnesota State claim first and second with junior Steven Orzolek earning the victory with a distance of 17.16m (56' 3.75'') which is a NCAA provisional mark. In the weight throw, the Mavericks dominated as they claimed the top-three spots in the event. Junior Nicholas Hudson was best of the field this evening as he won the event with a throw of 19.93m (65' 4.75''). This NCAA provisional mark currently sits seventh best in the country.

The Mavericks return to action next Friday and Saturday as they host the NSIC Indoor Championships inside Myers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato.
