Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's track & field team hosted the NSIC & Friends Indoor Challenge Saturday in Myers Field House. The Mavericks would run away with this meet, as they took the top spot with a final score of 301.5.
In the 60m dash, the Mavericks took the top two spots with sophomore Nicholas Sharma winning the event with a time of 6.91. Minnesota State claimed the top three spots in the 200m dash with Kenry Atubel claiming victory with a time of 22.29.
The Mavericks took the top spot on the podium, winning both the 400m and 600m dash. Max DePrenger earned the victory with a time of 50.22. Jeremiah Revere was victorious in the 600m dash with a time of 1:25.9.
Tanner Maier finished first in the 800m with a time of 1:50.48 which is a NCAA Division II provisional mark and second in the nation. Minnesota State claimed the top two spots in the 1000m dash with Leif Larsen crossing the line first with a time of 2:34.16.
In the Mile run, Jacob Bennett took home first for the Mavericks with a time of 4:26.46. The 5000m run saw freshman Ray Ure cross the finish line first with a time of 15:16.11.Kornelius Klah finished first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.11
In the high jump, freshman Jacob Ziebarth took home the win with a jump height of 1.98m (6' 6''). In the pole vault, Minnesota State first through fourth with Carson Dittel winning with a height of 5.01m (16' 5.25''). Reece Shannon took home the win in the long jump with a distance of 6.81m (22' 4.25").
The Mavericks took home first place finishes in both the shot put and weight throw. Steven Orzolek won the shot put with a throw of 17.33m (56' 10.25''). Nicholas Hudson won the weight throw for the Mavericks with a distance of 18.79m (61' 7.75''). Both are NCAA Division II Provisional marks.
Minnesota State returns to action Friday Feb. 18 as they host the Maverick Invitational in Myers Field House in Mankato, Minn.
