Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State University Maverick men's track and field program officially opened its 2021-2022 season with a win in the Chuck Petersen Open scoring 216 points.
In the meet the Mavericks had a first-place finisher in 7 of the 16 events scored.
In the 60m hurdles,
Kornelius Klah finished first with a provisional qualifying time of 8.06.
Shaheed Hickman finished first in the 60m dash with a provisional qualifying time of 6.78.
Kenry Atubel finished first in the 400m dash with a time of 50.29. While the Mavericks took the top seven spots in the 200m dash with
Shaheed Hickman finishing first with a time of 22.27.
Carson Dittel finished first in the pole vault with a top clear of 4.78m (15'8.25").
Onyekachi Ukaobasi finished first in the triple jump with a mark of 14.36m (47'1.5").
In the throws,
Steven Orzolek finished first in the shot put with a top throw of 16.99m (55'9")
The Mavericks return to action Friday, January 14
th with a home event, the Minnesota State Invitational.
