Mankato, Minn. --- 10th-rated Minnesota State fell by a 27-6 margin to #15 Augustana in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual held in Mankato Sunday.

The Mavericks won two individual matches in their home opener with sophomore Michael Smith victorious picking up a win over a ranked opponent at 184 and junior Darrell Mason staying undefeated with a win in his heavyweight match.

In the first match up the day, Minnesota State senior Trenton McManus, who entered the afternoon rated-eighth in the nation at 125, dropped a 7-5 decision to Jaxson Rohman.

Minnesota State freshman Tanner Cook lost by fall (3:27) to #5 Jack Huffman at 133 and Minnesota State junior Kolbe O'Brien lost by decision (10-5) to Brandon Carroll at 141.

Three-time All-American Kyle Rathman, rated fourth in country, was upended by AU's  Keaton Schorr, 3-2, in the 149-lb. match and now stands 3-1 for the year. Maverick junior Cooper Siebrecht lost a decision to Tyler Wagener 7-2 and at that point the match score stood 18-0 in favor of the visiting Vikings.

Miles Fitzgerald picked up a 6-2 decision over Minnesota State's Brody Nielsen at 165. Second-rated Trevor Turriff is now 4-1 on the season after he fell by a 3-2 margin to Cade Mueller before Michael Smith, at 184, picked up an 18-16 win over #8 Kolby Kost for MSU's first win of the match.

Dylan Butts fell to Daniel Bishop in the 197-lb., match, 11-4 and Maverick junior heavyweight Darrell Mason upped his record to 7-0 on the season with an 8-3 victory over Jarret Haglund in the final match of the dual.

Next action for Minnesota State (0-1, 0-1 NSIC) is Jan. 13 when Wisconsin-Parkside visits Mankato.
