INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- The No. 25 Minnesota State women's soccer team has earned the No. 4 seed in the 2021 NCAA Division II Soccer Central Region Tournament, as announced by the NCAA Monday evening.
The Mavericks (17-2-2) will be traveling to Warrensburg, Mo., as the No. 1 seed, Central Missouri, will be hosting the first two rounds at the South Recreation Complex at the University of Central Missouri. On Friday Nov. 19, Minnesota State will face the No. 5 seed, Oklahoma Baptist (13-5-1) while Central Missouri takes on the No. 8 seed, Southwestern Oklahoma (13-6-1). The winner of these two matches will play in the second round of the tournament on Sunday, Nov. 21.
The Mavericks collected an automatic qualifier into the NCAA DII Tournament after winning their ninth NSIC Soccer Tournament on Sunday afternoon at Chet Anderson Stadium in Bemidji, Minn. Minnesota State defeated Bemidji State 4-2 in the championship match.
The other side of the central bracket is filled out by second-seeded Emporia State (18-2-0), third-seeded Bemidji State (18-1-2), sixth-seeded Central Oklahoma (13-5-2) and seventh-seeded Northwest Missouri State (13-6-1).
Minnesota State and Bemidji State are representing the NSIC in the NCAA DII Tournament.
The Mavericks, who are making their 10th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and their 15th overall, are 10-11-5 all-time in NCAA Tournament play. Last time out in 2019, Minnesota State claimed the Central Region Tournament title with a 3-0 victory over Central Missouri at Scheels Field in the Maverick All-Sports Dome in Mankato before falling to then #2 Grand Valley State 5-2 in the quarterfinals round of the NCAA Tournament.
