MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State women's tennis coach Ryan Kucera has announced that four student-athletes will join the Mavericks women's tennis team in the fall of 2022.

All signings and transfers are contingent upon admission to Minnesota State and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

The 2022-23 recruiting class includes Katelyn Daravingas, Georgia Deml, JeanMarie Lorentz and Makiah Otto.

A four-year letterwinner from Eden Prairie, Minn., Katelyn Daravingas has started all four years as a member of the Eden Prairie High School tennis team. As a freshman, she posted a 10-9 record in No. 2 singles matches, before posting an 8-8 record in No. 3 singles matches as a sophomore. As a senior, Daravingas would post an 8-8 record No. 3 singles matches as she helped her team finish second at sections.

"We are really pleased to be able to add Katelyn to the Maverick tennis team," Kucera said. "Katelyn possesses a great serve and polished all-court game. She has experience as a junior player in both singles and doubles and we are eager to see her as a Maverick."

Katelyn is the daughter of Vasilios and Jennifer Daravingas and she intends to major in aviation at Minnesota State.

A six-time letterwinner from Lakeville, Minn., Georgia Deml has played six seasons of tennis at Lakeville South High School. Deml joined her high school team as a seventh grader as she helped her team to an undefeated season. She helped her team to a pair of conference championships during her sophomore and senior seasons. As a junior, she would claim all-conference player of the year honors competing in No. 1 singles matches. She finished her high school career with 94 career wins which are the third most in school history.

"We welcome the addition of Georgia to the Maverick tennis family," Kucera said. "Georgia possesses an aggressive game with stellar groundstroke play. She made multiple Minnesota state tournament appearances in doubles and was also a top singles player. We are excited to watch her grow and thrive in our program."

As a sophomore, Deml finished second in the northern section of the 2019 USTA JTT Nationals. She would go on to win the northern section championship as a senior. Georgia is the daughter of Joe and Sarah Deml and she intends to major in biology/pre-med at Minnesota State.

A four-year letterwinner from Appleton, Wis., JeanMarie Lorentz has played four seasons of tennis at Kimberly High School. As a freshman she competed in No. 2 singles matches and finished with a 17-14 record. As a sophomore, she went on to post a 29-8 record and qualified to the state tournament after finishing third at sectionals.

"We are very excited about the addition of JeanMarie to the Maverick tennis family," Kucera said. "JeanMarie has thrived in doubles throughout an illustrious high school career in Wisconsin, earning multiple awards and state tournament appearances. We are looking forward to the impact she will make on our program."

As a junior and a senior, she again advanced to the state tournament in the No. 1 doubles matches. She finished fourth at the state tournament during her junior season, to go along with a second place finish at sectionals during her senior season.
