MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's swimming and diving team opened its home schedule Friday evening with a pair of wins in its double dual against Southwest Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul.
MSU topped SMSU by the score of 236-99 and CSP by the score of 239-62. The Mustangs defeated the Golden Bears 214-82 in their dual.
In total, the Mavericks took first place in 13 of the 16 events.
MSU won the 200 medley relay event as the team of senior
Amanda Jordan, senior
Emily Goodman, junior
Nicole Beckman and senior
Alexa Lofgren posted a time of 1:50.71. The Mavericks also took first place in the 200 freestyle relay team as the team of Jordan, sophomore
Ella DeFever, freshman
Abby Gronholz and senior
Kate Flynn posted a time of 1:41.89.
In the 1-meter diving event, freshman
Aspen Warnygora took first with a score of 224.10, while freshman
Sydney Hanson took the top spot in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 231.95.
Both DeFever and sophomore
Darah Coleman took first place in a pair of events. DeFever won the 50 backstroke (27.59) and the 50 freestyle (25.17), while Coleman finished first in the 50 breaststroke (31.07) and the 100 breaststroke (1:07.72). Freshman
Kendall Gonzalez finished in a tie for first in the 50 freestyle event with DeFever as well.
Lofgren added a first place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:01.11, while Flynn won the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.44. Beckman won an individual event as well as she posted a time of 26.97 in the 50 butterfly.
Senior
Kayla Rinderknecht finished first in the 100 butterfly event with a time of 59.38 also, while senior
Anja Enervold won the 100 IM event with a time of 1:02.36.
Minnesota State returns to action at home on Saturday, October 23, as it hosts both Jamestown and Sioux Falls. The duals are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
