St. Cloud, Minn. --- 11th-rated Minnesota State claimed four wins against the #1 team in the country, but fell short in dropping a 25-13 decision at St. Cloud State Thursday evening.

Trenton McManus, ranked ninth in the nation at 125, now stands 4-0 for the season with an 8-3 decision over Paxton Creese to give the visiting Mavericks a 3-0 lead to open the dual.

Kyle Rathman, rated #2 in the country at 149, earned an 8-0 major decision victory over Garrett Aldrich at 149 in staying undefeated (4-0) for 2020-21 and knotting the team score at 7-7.

Cooper Siebrecht got a take down in overtime in claiming a 5-3 win over Coby Njos in the 157 match in giving the Mavericks a 10-7 lead. Siebrecht evened his record at 2-2 with the win.
A late takedown gave third-rated
Trevor Turriff a 5-3 victory over 12th-rated Devin Donovan at 174 and Turriff now stands 4-0 for the season. Turriff's three points tied the team score at 13-13.
The Huskies claimed wins in the final three matches to close out the dual.
The Mavericks, now 3-1 overall on the year and 3-1 in NSIC matches, host the University of Mary Feb. 4 in their next action.
