MANKATO, Minn. --- The No. 17 Minnesota State wrestling team scored a 36-12 win over the Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons Thursday night at Taylor Center.
 
With the win, the Mavericks improve to 8-2 (4-1 NSIC), while the Dragons fall to 1-7 (0-6 NSIC).
 
The Mavericks came away with seven wins in the 10 matches of the night.
 
At 125 lbs., Trenton McManus earned a 19-4 technical fall win over Cameron Williams. Lucas Hagel and No. 9 Louie Sanders then earned wins by forfeit at 133 and 141 to build a 17-0 lead.
 
At 149 lbs., No. 3 Kyle Rathman was upset by Zach Scott in a third-period pin. Cooper Siebrecht responded with a pin of his own in 5:58 over Tell Ward to give MSU a 23-6 lead.
 
The Dragons picked up a win at 165 lbs., when Logan Saltou was defeated by Braydon Ortloff by a 9-7 decision.
 
The Mavericks then won the next three matches to go up by a score of 36-9. No. 10 Zach Johnston found himself in a battle with Evan Foster in the 174-pound bout, ultimately winning 8-6 in overtime. Trevor Turriff earned a 24-11 major decision win over Steve Abbott. 197-pounder Matthew Blome pinned Logan Rhode in 23 seconds for the Mavericks' last win of the night.
 
At heavyweight, Max Villnow dropped a 3-1 decision to Jordan Magnuson, but the Mavericks won 36-12.
 
The Mavericks will be back in action Friday when they face the Upper Iowa Peacocks in Fayette, Iowa. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
