BISMARCK, N.D. --- The No. 17 Minnesota State wrestling team defeated the U-Mary Marauders, 29-12, in a Friday evening dual that saw the Mavericks win seven matches.

With the win, the Mavericks improve to 5-1 (1-0 NSIC), while the Marauders fall to 2-5 (0-2 NSIC).
 
At 125 lbs., Trenton McManus was pinned in the third period by Jeremy Leintz to give the Marauders a 6-0 lead.
 
After that, the Mavericks won three consecutive matches to take a 12-6 lead. At 133 lbs., Cole Gille defeated Lincoln Turman by a 3-0 decision. No. 9 Louie Sanders then picked up an 11-3 major decision win over Trevor Fauver at 141 lbs., before No. 3 Kyle Rathman came away with a 16-1 technical fall win over Devin Steidler at 149 lbs.
 
In the final match before intermission, Cooper Siebrecht was blanked in a 4-0 loss to No. 12 Braydon Huber.
 
Logan Saltou was victorious by a 12-2 major decision over Riley Mitchell at 165 lbs., which began a string of four consecutive wins by MSU, giving the Mavericks a 29-9 lead.
 
In the most anticipated match of the night, Zach Johnston, who holds the No. 10 ranking at 174 lbs., earned a 6-2 upset win over No. 7 Phillip Springsteen. Trevor Turriff followed up with a 16-3 major decision win over Grant Litke at 184 lbs. before 197-pounder Matthew Blome pinned Gerardo Jaime in the second period.
 
In the final match of the night, Max Villnow dropped a 5-0 decision to Dominic Tudor, but the Mavericks would earn a 29-12 win.
 
The Mavericks will now face No. 23 Minot State inside the Minot State Dome on Saturday. The dual is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
