MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State wraps up its regular season home schedule this weekend as it hosts the Upper Iowa Peacocks on Friday and the Winona State Warriors on Saturday. Game times are set for 8:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m., respectively.
Minnesota State History: The 2017-18 season marks the 96th campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men's basketball. The Mavericks are 1,331-884 (.600) in 2,215 games since the program's inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 154-58 (.726) record to go with four regular-season championships and two tournament championships.
The Mavericks made their 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2016. MSU owns a 16-13 record (.551) in NCAA Tournament play, including an 85-81 win over MSU Moorhead and an 82-60 loss to Northwest Missouri State in the most recent trip to the tournament.
Against the Peacocks: Friday's game between Minnesota State and Upper Iowa will be their 25th all-time meeting with MSU holding a 20-4 series advantage. Earlier this season, the Mavericks defeated the Peacocks 86-83 on the road.
Five Mavericks scored at least 10 points in MSU's win against UIU earlier this season, including senior
Charlie Brown, who tallied a team-leading 20 points and four assists. Senior
Chris Kendrix notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, MSU shot 47.8% from the field. The Mavericks also held a 43-36 advantage in rebounds.
Carson Parker recorded 20 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, while Joe Smoldt and Kam Rowan each tallied 15 points. As a team, UIU shot 45.8% from the field and 21-of-27 (.778) from the free throw line.
Against the Warriors: Saturday's meeting between Minnesota State and Winona State marks their 135th all-time meeting, with MSU holding an 87-46 series advantage. Earlier this season, MSU defeated WSU 83-72 on the road.

Carlos Anderson tallied a game-high 22 points, while senior
Chris Kendrix posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. As a team, MSU shot 45% from three point range and took advantage of 14-of-17 (.824) trips to the free throw line.
Charlie Koontz led the Warriors with 17 points, while Caleb Wagner added 15 points. As a team, WSU shot 39% (23-of-59) from the field and 84.6% (22-of-26) from the free throw line.
Concerning the Mavericks: Minnesota State enters the weekend the owner of a 19-5 record, including a 15-3 NSIC record. Last weekend, MSU bested Minnesota Duluth 76-58, before falling to St. Cloud State 80-71.

Kevin Krieger is averaging 15.5 points per game while shooting 53.3% from downtown. Senior

As a unit, Minnesota State is shooting 47.8% from the field this season, including a 43.7% performance from long range which ranks fourth in NCAA Division II. The Mavericks have also passed out 310 assists and have forced 289 turnovers.

Carson Parker leads the UIU offense with an average of 16.4 points and 5.6 assists per game this season. Joe Smoldt is averaging 13.9 points per game this season and has connected on 81 shots from long range.
Brooks McKowen is in his fifth season as head coach of the Peacocks. He owns an 85-68 record.
Concerning the Warriors: Winona State enters the weekend the owner of a 16-8 overall record, including an 11-7 NSIC record. WSU defeated MSU Moorhead 93-78 last weekend, before falling to Northern State 82-64.
As a team, Winona State is averaging 77.3 points and 33.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 46.9% from the field. The Warriors are also shooting 40.2% from three point range and have passed out 349 assists.
Four Warriors are averaging at least 10 points per game this season, including Tommy Gathje, who is averaging a team-best 12.6 points a game. Corey Jeffs is averaging 12.3 points and 5.3 rebounds a game.
WSU is coached by Todd Eisner, who is in his third season at Winona State. He owns a 43-37 record.
