Mankato, Minn.--- The Minnesota State women's track and field team hosted the first day of the NSIC Indoor Championship Friday at Meyers Field House.
After the first day of events, seven of which have gone final, the Mavericks hold first place in the Championship with 52 points. Concordia-St. Paul is currently in second place with 35.66 points.
In the 60-meter dash
Afure Adah (7.64),
Ariel Thomas (7.65),
Brieanna Puckett (7.66)
Gabi Gaines (7.68), and
Autumn Santos (7.72) all qualified for finals.
Altoniece Williams (8.48) and
Carolyn Hackel (8.88) both qualified for finals in the 60-meter hurdles. In the 200-meter dash Adah (24.61),
Karlona Gregory (25.18), and Gaines (25.47) all qualified for finals as well.
Amelia Kjos (57.83) and
Kimmy Wreh (58.13) both qualified for finals in the 400-meter dash.
In the 600-meter run
Taylor Glover (1:37.11),
Bobbi Patrick (1:37.36), and
Jessica Boespflug (1:38.22) qualified for finals.
Haley Kruger (2:14.67),
Maddi Sjelin (2:18.59), and
Megan Allen (2:20.31) qualified for finals in the 800-meter run and
Megan Serratore (3:03.4) qualified for finals in the 1000-meter run. In the 3000-meter run finals
Erin Baker finished second with a time of 10:00.35 earning eight team points and
Lily Paul (10:31.08) finished seventh earning two team points. To wrap up the first day on the track, the distance medley saw the Mavericks finish fourth with a time of 12:34.97 earning five team points.
The finals for the track events will begin tomorrow at 1 p.m.

Khadiya Hollingsworth continued her fantastic season winning the high jump with a height of 5'8" earning ten team points. Also in the high jump,
Rachel Schumacher (5'7") finished second earning eight team points and
Brianna Ziolkowski (5'7") finished third earning six team points. In the long jump Thomas finished third with a jump of 18'8" which earned six team points.
Day two begins Saturday Morning with the field events starting at 11 a.m.
