Six Members of the Maverick Women’s Track and Field Team Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

MANKATO, Minn. --- A total of six members of the Minnesota State women's cross country/track and field team have been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team for their efforts in the classroom and on the track and field.

Aubri Brown, Alexa Post, Lillian Washington, Ghada Hamdani, Madison Matzek and Addison Peed were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team. The CSC Academic All-American Teams for women's track and field will be announced on July 15.

To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Team a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore athletically and academically. They also have to have at least a 3.50 GPA. In addition, a student-athlete must have a top-50 individual performance at the NCAA regional in cross country or have a top-50 regional ranking in a single event (indoor or outdoor) on the track and field team.

A sophomore from Marshfield, Wis., Aubri Brown earned a pair of All-American honors this past season. Brown finished sixth in the indoor weight throw (19.45m, 63-9.75) at the NCAA Indoor Championships, before taking sixth pace in the hammer throw (57.65m, 189-2) at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Brown owns a 3.62 GPA and is majoring in communication sciences and disorders.

A senior from Bloomer, Wis., Alexa Post garnered All-American Second Team honors in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships where she recorded 3,433 points. She also finished first at the NSIC Indoor Championships in the pentathlon with 3,714 points. Posted owns a 3.50 GPA and is majoring in applied health science.

A senior from Spikkestad, Norway, Lillian Washington claimed All-American honors in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships as she finished fifth with a jump of 12.55m (41-2.25). She would also claim All-American honors with a sixth place finish in the high jump (1.72m, 5-7.75) and Second Team All-American honors in the triple jump (12.20m, 40-0.5) at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Washington owns a 3.56 GPA and is majoring in biology.

A junior from Bizerte, Tunisia, Ghada Hamdani earned All-American honors in both the indoor and outdoor triple jump events. At the NCAA Indoor Championships she took fourth place with a jump of 12.56m (41-2.5) and seventh place at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a jump of 12.56m (41-2.5). Hamdani owns a 3.56 GPA and is majoring in health and physical education.

A senior from Prescott, Wis., Madison Matzek earned All-NSIC honors in the 3,000m steeplechase event at the NSIC Outdoor Championships as she took third place with a time of 11:07.99. Matzek owns a 3.78 GPA and is majoring in elementary education.

A junior from Janesville, Minn., Addison Peed earned All-NSIC honors in the 1,000m event at the NSIC Indoor Championships as she finished in third place with a time of 2:58.53. Peed is double majoring in political science and environmental science and owns a 3.89 GPA.
