BURNSVILLE, Minn. --- Minnesota State's Miranda Lauvstad has been named the NSIC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year for her efforts during the outdoor season.

A senior from Nesoeya, Norway, Lauvstad won the long jump at the NSIC Outdoor Championships with a jump of 6.11m (20-0.5). She also owns the best mark in the long jump in Division II this season with a jump of 6.58m (21-7). Lauvstad also recorded 26 points during the NSIC Championships, which were the most by any athlete (men's and women's) at the NSIC Outdoor Championships.

Lauvstad also has the third best score in the heptathlon event (5,671) in Division II and was named the NSIC Field Athlete of the Week twice during the outdoor season. She will compete in the long jump, heptathlon and 4x400 relay at the NCAA Championships.

The NCAA Championships will be held at Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kan., from May 21-23.
