MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's basketball team will travel to Minnesota Duluth for the first round of the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Claire Ziegler drove the lane for a layup with 1:37 remaining. The Bulldogs went on close out the game at the free throw line to pick up the win.

Mavericks in the NSIC Tournament: Since the 2012-13 season, Minnesota State is 7-4 in NSIC Tournament games and have reached the championship game three times over that span (2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15). In its most recent appearance, Minnesota State dropped an 83-72 decision at Minnesota Crookston last season.

Britney Scherber leads the Mavericks with 11.8 points per game. Junior
Claire Ziegler is also netting 11.8 points per contest while grabbing a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game which ranks sixth in the NSIC. Sophomore
Monica Muth is distributing a team-best 2.5 assists per game this season.
Stat Pack: As a team this season, Minnesota State is averaging 73.4 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 67.7. Additionally, the Mavericks are collecting 43.9 rebounds per contest and add 14.1 assists per game.
High Scoring Offense: Minnesota State is averaging 72.4 points per game which ranks third in the NSIC. The Mavericks reached the 100 point plateau for the first time since 2014 after scoring 106 points against Southwest Minnesota State last weekend.

Scouting Minnesota Duluth: Minnesota Duluth is located in Duluth, Minn., and has an overall record of 13-13 and 11-11 NSIC. The Bulldogs enter the NSIC Tournament on a five game losing streak and most recently fell to #12 MSU Moorhead, 75-58. UMD is led by head coach Mandy Pearson who is in her second season.
As a team this season, Minnesota Duluth is scoring 63.6 points per game in comparison to its opponents' 64.5. Additionally, the Bulldogs add 32.7 rebounds per game and are shooting .362 from behind the arc which ranks second in the NSIC.
Sophomore Sammy Kozlowski ranks first in the NSIC in steals with 2.6 per game while pulling down a team-best 5.0 rebounds per contest with 13.5 points. Senior Taylor Meyer is recorded a team-high 13.6 points per game to round out the top performers.
